Uku is the word for "float" in Japanese. These meditation benches, also known as seiza benches or kneeling benches, are so comfortable you will feel like you are floating! More butt-room, more height. I make them truly by hand with wood chisels, a little German wood plane and Japanese hand saws at my shop in Boulder, Colorado. I make them to your human dimensions, with any requests you have, for you specifically. There are no metal parts, no screws or hinges to someday come loose.

The meditation benches I make are fully portable, with locking "dovetail" joints. Made from red oak, they will last many lifetimes if well taken care of. Go to our site to see products.

You will see that Uku Benches are more expensive than many other benches. (ZenWorks elevated oak bench, the only bench comparable in construction, is quite a bit pricier.) But you will discover that the comfort, wonderful design, and my dedication to making you a meditation bench you can comfortably and happily use every day, all day, is worth the money!

Plus, my shop and business are very earth friendly! I use all hand tools and muscle power in a naturaly lit shop to make your bench in its entirety where I live in Boulder, Colorado.
